Terms of use

Last updated: 13 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Adholax Technologies Limited (RC 9833759), which operates 5Kobo. By using 5Kobo you agree to them.

What 5Kobo is

5Kobo lets an Organizer open a Collection, share a Collection link, receive Contributions into a Collection account, and withdraw what was raised. 5Kobo is a financial technology company, not a bank. Collection accounts, identity checks, and transfers are provided by Anchor and its partner bank, [Anchor partner bank], licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Money in a Collection is held by that bank, never by 5Kobo.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older and have a Nigerian phone number. To receive Contributions, an Organizer must pass an identity check. Keep your phone and the devices you use to Confirm it's you secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.

Organizers

  • Describe each Collection honestly, including what the money is for.
  • Use the money raised for that purpose.
  • Only add Co-organizers you trust: a Co-organizer you allow to withdraw can move money from the Collection.
  • Connect only group chats you are allowed to post in, and tell the group that Contributions will be posted there.
  • Follow the Acceptable use policy.

Contributors

You pay by bank transfer into the Collection account shown on the Collection link. 5Kobo adds no fee: the amount you send is the amount recorded. A Contribution goes to the Organizer's Collection. 5Kobo does not run the Collection and can't promise how the Organizer uses the money. If your bank reverses a transfer, the Contribution is reversed too.

Service fee and Withdrawals

Each Withdrawal has a Service fee set by our published Service fee policy. A Collection keeps the pricing in force when it was opened. Transfers over ₦10,000 also carry CBN stamp duty, shown as its own line. You see the exact amount and every deduction before you confirm. A Withdrawal must be confirmed inside a signed-in session, and once the bank has sent it, it cannot be reversed by 5Kobo, so check the account name before you confirm.

When we may restrict an account

We may pause a Collection, hold a Withdrawal, or close an account if we reasonably suspect fraud, a breach of these terms, or where the law, a regulator, or our account provider requires it. Where we can, we tell you why and how to resolve it.

Messages

We send sign-in codes when you ask for them, and post Contributions to group chats an Organizer connects. We do not send marketing messages. See the Privacy policy.

Liability

We work to keep 5Kobo available and accurate, but bank and network outages can delay Contributions and Withdrawals. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by an Organizer's use of the money, a wrong account chosen by you, or events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.

Complaints and disputes

Contact us first through Contact and complaints. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Nigerian courts have jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date above and tell Organizers in the app before a significant change takes effect.
