Post the link in your WhatsApp or Telegram group. Contributors see the account number and the Total raised.

  4. 04

Getting started

Do I need a password?

No. You sign in with your phone number and a code we send by text message. There is nothing to remember.

Do I need to download an app?

No. 5Kobo works in your phone's browser. You can add it to your home screen if you like, but you don't have to.

How soon is my Collection account ready?

It is ready almost immediately after you sign up. You can share the Collection link right away.

Money and fees

What does it cost to run a Collection?

There is no subscription cost to open or run a Collection, and 5Kobo takes no fee on Contributions. Every Withdrawal has a published Service fee. You see the exact Service fee and the amount you'll receive before you confirm.

What are “transfer fees absorbed”?

The payment provider keeps a transfer fee from each Contribution. 5Kobo shows the running total of these on your Collection page as “transfer fees absorbed”, so contributors can see where it went.

Can the Service fee change after my Collection starts?

No. Pricing is fixed when your Collection starts. 5Kobo never reprices money you have already collected.

Withdrawing safely

Can a chat message move money?

No. A chat message only shows that someone has a phone, and phones get lost and shared. Every Withdrawal must be confirmed inside 5Kobo, on a signed-in session, with Confirm it's you.

What is “Confirm it's you”?

It is how you approve a Withdrawal. Your phone asks for your fingerprint, face, or screen lock. If your phone has no fingerprint sensor, it asks for your screen lock instead.

Why set up Confirm it's you at sign-up?

If 5Kobo waited until your first Withdrawal to ask, someone who picked up your phone could set it up with their own face and take the money. Setting it up on day one, on this device, closes that door.

Can I withdraw only part of the money?

No. A Withdrawal takes out everything that is available in the Collection. You will see the exact Service fee and the amount you'll receive before you confirm.
